Elderberry Commons

Elderberry Commons, formerly known as the Sebastopol Inn, is transitioning to a permanent supportive housing complex.  This means that the current 28 individual shelter units plus two rooms used by staff have been vacated, likely for several months.  During this time, the rooms will be converted to units compatible with permanent supportive housing (which can include kitchenettes).  Construction pacing depends on supplies, permitting, unanticipated building issues, and labor availability. This conversion was anticipated and required by Project Homekey as a condition of the grant funding award.

Current Project Schedule

What’s the estimated project schedule?

Construction was originally scheduled to take between 4-6 months.  However, we’ve had to adjust that schedule as follows:

Design and permitting complete: 09/30/2023
Lease-up activities begin (for occupancy in March 2024) – February 2024
Construction complete: 03/01/2024
Occupancy begins 03/15/2024

The property is owned by the Sonoma County Community Development Commission and they are working with their non-profit partners, West County Community Services and Burbank Housing Development Corporation, to complete the work to convert the site to permanent supportive housing.
